Slide stop fix, no more idiot scratches!

I'm sure several of you have seen the slide stop modification to keep you from making a boo boo on a nice gun. I decided to try it out on mine today.

I started with a small square needle file to set the groove, then went to a triangle to widen it for the last step, and finally ended with the round one. After all the filing I grabbed the polishing wheel out of the Dremel kit and gave it a few passes to smooth out the filing marks. I'm probably going to cold blue it to add some protection to the exposed area. If I do, I'll hit it with some 800 grit first to finish it out. I tested it out several times and it works just as intended. It only took about 30 minutes.

Log got this one right, although it's not a must to prevent the scratch. Looks good

I don't know who invented it. I've always seen Logman associated with it, but who knows. I just know that I'm a little scared every time I clean my gun that I'm going to give a nice big 'ol idiot scratch, so I solved that problem today. To whomever invented it, thanks!

If I remember right, then it was one of the older master pistolsmiths at Wilson's back in the 90's.

It's a great mod to a slide stop, many thanks to whomever came up with it!

    That's where I learned it.
We do it on all our 1911's. Takes 5 min. and customers love it.
