Can someone identify the elements that make up a comfortable IWB holster? I see the least expensive are made out of a plastic. Recently I purchased a Glock 43 which is relatively light and pocket able in most of my pants though I'm thinking in certain applications it might be handier if it was carried up on the belt (inside).
A more flexible material (nylon or leather) seems like it would be a bit more comfortable. I've never wore one mainly cause it's so hot out here and sweat is an issue.
A minimalist type like this is my favorite. I have a Raven Concealment vanguard for my double stack glocks. Light, secure, and thin. I just grabbed this pic from google so I don't have a certain brand in mind. Since Raven doesnt make it for the 43.

Holsters like this don't make sense. To do a proper IWB holster would only add .080 to the thickness of the gun and cover the controls and muzzle better to actually make a usable holster that you could train with.
Have you shot with this style holster to get the slide and barrel hot? I'm not sticking that back in my pants.
I'm going to try a double kydex IWB for my 19 +X300 so I will let you know how that feels. Also I have a GCode INCOG that Jolly gave me that's really comfortable with my Colt Commander. That would be my second recommendation
With the stealth gear, they make something call "ventcore", it's a breathable mesh like material. It doesn't get hot...
The cool thing is it's 100% washable. So anytime I feel like it's getting a bit gross (which honestly is almost never), I just take it apart and wash the mesh piece.
For me, its also ideal as I can adjust the clips to the lowest setting and it's literally invisible on my waist. We have a work policy that restricts me from carrying any weapon... So if and when I actually decide to carry, ultimate concealment is crucial.
It's a bit pricey (I think the run like $100) but, it's a one time buy once cry once thing. Figured I'd give a bit more detail on it.
Nate Squared Tactical have by far the most comfortable holsters. I have 5 of them and absolutely love them. Two of them are their professional series and those are what I use in my 1911.
You might want to check out their website and it looks like they have also started using Kydex. https://n82tactical.com/ Check out what is new for 2017, looks like some interesting stuff.
I also have a Whitehat Holsters IWB holster that I use now and then but not so much as the Nate Squared Tactical holsters.
@azpoolguy this is for carry. Not training. If you shoot enough during a SD situation for the barrel to burn you, you probably should keep your gun out anyway
I didn't say I don't do draw practices with it did I? Once it's out the holster it's the same gun as if it comes out a duty holster, a drawer, or my ass right?
So let me ask @azpoolguy, who makes that holster? That looks like the minimal, yet enough gun coverage that I'm looking for...I probably should have added I'm accustomed to wearing a gun at 4 -5 o'clock
The most comfortable IWB I have is a Sparks Criterion. If you do go with a leather IWB I would recommend a metal reinforced mouth band like the Criterion comes with.
This is the most comfortable IWB holster I own (even over MS Criterion for me). Mine is horse hide which is supposed to deal better with sweat but I am not seeing that option on the website now.
I have tried Crossbreed IWB and a couple of others in Kydex. For me the mouth collapses making reholstering a real pain. My current holster is a Galco Royal Guard IWB that does have metal reinforcement at the mouth. I wear this thing all day an sometimes forget I have it on. Like it enough I bought a second for my full size.
Comfortable for me is where the holster lays flat against my hip (where the holster part is molded to the outside). This prevents any pressure points against my hip...I love my Crossbreed Super Tuk's...lay flat, the leather conforms to my hip nicely, and they do pretty well with sweat.
I like Warbird leather holsters for both function and comfort.
He makes a convertible holster that you can use both IWB and OWB here is a pic but this doesn't have the straps on it yet and I have no idea if he makes one for your gun....
XDS with straps....
Not easy to draw from but by far my most comfortable holster yet....
I run a DeSantis 112, basically a VM-2.
Comfortable but does need the stiffener in the mouth,re-holstering takes care. Not a good thing.
Skinny guy with skinny hips so belt is cinched TIGHT.
Have been thinking of Kydex just for holding it's form and being thinner.
Pretty much what Mike posted, been eyeing it since the thread he did on making them!!
Another vote for Stealthgear Venticore, I now have two of them
