Salutations! I finally made an account, I have been looking at joining a 1911 forum for a while now, I generally stick to AR15.com. The reason being, I am finally starting a 1911 build project of my own. I only own one 1911, an Auto Ordnance model, but I have had experience shooting and handling many other makes and models. I am really looking forward to my first build, and I mainly decided to come here because I am going to be in search of certain types of parts which may or may not exist. I am also going to have questions about the build process, and parts selection in general. One main thing I have wondered about is whether to go with a Caspian frame and slide, or perhaps Fusion firearms? I appreciate any advice anyone has! Thanks.

welcome to this show

FWIW Fusion makes a heck of a 1911 (government series) for the price. stick to .445 acp though

My only experience in “building” my own 1911 is a kit that I bought from Fusion, a Government GI. It is a 9mm and is picky on ammo that it likes. It runs flawlessly on 124gr Speer Gold Dots (Standard LE not +P) but isn’t reliable with any other load that I have tried including a few different handloads of mine that run in every other 9mm I own.

I consider (trying to) to troubleshoot the FTE/FTF problem as part of my 1911 learning experience.

I also have a stripped Fusion frame that I am collecting parts for that will be my first real build. I am planning on a .45ACP for that one... or maybe a .22LR conversion slide...
