Just saw the latest isssue of Guns & Ammo. There were 6 adds for 1911s in this issue and I thought that was a good thing. These included Auto Ordnance, Springfield, Nighthawk, Dan Wesson, Kimber and Wilson. If these companies are willing to spend advertising money like this I hope it means there is some demand. Made me feel warm and fuzzy as I own 1911s from three of these companies.

Pretty much the same here: 1911s from 3 of those companies currently in the house and used to have one from a 4th. It's a great time to be a 1911 addict. We're almost spoiled for choices.
The 1911 makers know there are enough people out there who are sufficiently enamored with the 1911 handgun that they will buy them. Period. The 1911 is an antiquated design and has been surpassed by other designs.
Some of us feel that the 1911 is not antiquated . It's a design that was so far ahead of it's time in 1911 that it withstood the test of time . What is better or antiquated is purely subjective . Being around 108 years doesn't make it antiquated , in my mind it proves it's greatness .
My 1911s are all range guns, hence they are Government sized and all steel. For what I want out of target shooting there isn’t a better pistol.
I could see a 2011 becoming my house gun.
