Been doing some research on barrels for a potential custom build. Was looking at KKM and noted they tout their button rifling process as superior to broach but because it’s more labor intensive and more precise. Then I noted Ed Brown barrels claimed “Our barrels are rifled by precision...

Was cleaning a 38 Super and noticed this on the barrel. It looks bent, though can’t really tell how it would have happened, at least in the course of fire. Not the best pics, but note the blue circled areas... I took apart another gun as I’ve never noticed this before. Didn’t see any issues...

I only know of them because of Springfield. But I believe they stopped using them due to reliability issues. Whenever I see some custom gun wizard/gunsmith, they seem to use Kart or barsto. If Les Baer accuracy is so good, why don't people get barrels from them? Or do they use Kart or...

Hey folks, looking for someone who'd be willing to finish ream and throat the barrel on a new 1911 I'm picking up today. I don't have a finish reamer or a dremel and I've also never used either of them before so I'd rather not screw something up. Would be happy to pay via paypal F&F, venmo, or...

Pardon the dumb question but of the two Colts I've had, both have what appear to be pretty short gaps between the upper edge of the feed ramp and the barrel throat. I stuck a Springfield barrel on the frame just to see what kind of gap it would show and it looked totally normal, around 1/32". Is...

I have a old llama with the 4.25inch barrel that I acquired as parr’s in a bag. There are threaded holes in the slide and the barrel bushing that hold the bushing in place. Has anyone ever seen a system like this and any idea where to find replacement set screws?

So I got my new Colt 1911 9mm Combat Elite Defender 3”. Can someone tell me if these marks on the barrel seem like normal lathe or machining marks on a brand new weapon from Colt? I put 100 rounds through it this weekend and it performed amazingly. Only 1 double feed.

After some research it appears that one can take a Beretta 81 .32 acp and change the barrel and magazine to .380 (Model 84/85) and have a functioning pistol. Anybody have any experience with this, or a helpful comment?

Had an awesome experience today! Vacationing on NC beach this week with the family I took some time out to stop in and see the folks at Kart Precision Barrels. I called ahead a couple of weeks ago to make sure they would be open and were ok with someone stopping by and they were, on both...

I have started to lose sleep over this. I have owned many 9mm 1911s, and my experience has been that Dan Wesson and Springfield Armory RO's had the softest feeling impulse and the muzzle hardly moved. Other's (Colt) have been OK, but nothing to write home about. Fast forward a few years later...

A pistol was recently listed in the classifieds and one of the options the owner had performed on the unit was an ion bond treatment on the barrel. I did a search yesterday to try to find info on this treatment. Found some data but still have some questions. Is the Ion Bond treatment more for...

Hi folks, new to the forum and 1911's in general. I recently bought a new Dan Wesson Valor and have shot 74 rounds through it. I noticed some marks on the barrel, which you can see in the pictures around the word "match." I'm not completely sure if they were there before I bought it, but I...
