  1. Colt Series 70

    Colt Series 70

It is an unique Series 70 as it didn't eject properly upon buying. I called Colt which sent me a shipping label. They fixed the ejection problem and also installed a National Match barrel (with paperwork as done at the factory).

I have a stock Colt Series 70 made in 1973. Works great but occasionally hangs up on SWCs, which isn't unexpected. The gun is plain jane and I'm wondering if it would be worth it to have a good gunsmith work it over some. Nothing major, I don't want a pretty gun, just one that is a little...

So, one of the benefits of being in LE for a long time is the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act - LEOSA. If you're not familiar with it, the gist of LEOSA is that it allows active sworn LEOs and and qualified retired/separated LEOs that were on the job for at least 10 years to carry concealed...

I saw this Colt in the LGS and was told it is a factory item. Haven’t been able to find any info on it. Looks like a great base gun. Has flattened and arrow serrated slide, undercut and checkered front strap, nice bluing and it’s series 70. Anyone know anything about it? (Sorry if the pics...

I was perusing Guns America today, and saw this: https://www.gunsamerica.com/939330035/Colt-Series-70-Frame-complete-slide-et.htm A Colt Series 70 frame and slide, and unidentified barrel and some other parts. Complete with fuzzy, out of focus pictures. All for only $400. It might be a...

Well....not quite but close. I posted the other day a question about a Colt Stainless 1911 because I was contemplating using it for a custom build to have Dave at EA turn it into a 70s series stainless Special Combat Carry model to go with my blued one from Colt. Well, in the process of...

This is a very clean 1979 Colt MKIV/Series 70 45ACP. I am the 2nd owner however it has only been fired by the original owner who bought it new in 1979. I am not great at taking pictures and she is a beauty in person. The original owner said less than 500 rounds down the pipe and he is a...

I need to learn some tricks for completing a series 80 to series 70 conversion. I need at least 3 hands! I think it is extremely hard to do with just one person. Just wondering if there are jigs or tricks that I need to learn.

Got the new to me Colt S70 that I bought from ChuckC and I am smitten. This gun looks right, feels right, and shoots right. Even though it had some very nice double diamonds on it I swapped them out for a set of American holly grips DukeSoprano had made for me a while back and with the...

Had no intention of selling this pistol, only putting it up because I'm buying another 1911 and need to cover some of the cost. This is a two-tone Colt S70 Competition that I bought new last summer. The two-tone versions were a limited run and are hard to find. The gun is in excellent...

I'm new here. Been a shooter my whole life. I have an older CT Brian custom Colt Government Mark IV Series 70 made 79-81. It was part of my fathers extensive collection I inherited 16 yrs ago. It has been in a heated gun safe since the 90s. I'm not sure if he purchased it already worked on or if...

I found a really nice used Colt Government Series 80 in a store yesterday, and am tempted to buy it. Only thing is, I think I’d rather have a Mark IV Series 70. If you have both, which do you prefer, and why?

Bought a new two tone Colt S70 Competition .45 a couple of months ago, haven't had a chance to shoot it until today. Took it to a local action pistol match and ran it right out of the box, except for swapping grips and installing a checkered stainless MSH. I didn't clean it, didn't break it...

Got my new two tone Colt Series 70 Competition Gov't Model a couple of weeks ago, finally got a chance to take a couple of pics. This is one of the $800 specials from SMGA and I'm very happy with what I'm seeing. It's well put together, nicely fit, Colt style so it's not super tight but...
