Was looking for a cheaper chore 1911 recently and found a Springfield Milspec Defender at a LGS and decided to get it. I had looked at a TISAS 1911A1 and was impressed, but wanted to spend the little bit more on the Springfield. Of course not long after that I find a used but basically new TISAS...

I do own a few other pistols, and have been into guns since '05, but myy experience with 1911's is pretty much limited to the rattle boxes in the Navy. Outside of that, I did not own one up until a refinished 1943 all matching Colt showed up at the LGS. Well for 4 bills, I wasn't going to leave...

Are these even worth looking into? The price seems right and I have handled different ones in the LGS and it doesn’t appear to be a cheaply made 1911.

So….being the broke joke I am right now after so many purchases and trying not to end up divorced lol….I’ve been itching for something to do to my SDS A1. I friend gave me a set of these little cigarette cards I’m guessing from the 40s? I got like 15 of these things and decided to slide one...

SDS Tisas B45R Carry. Man, I love this pistol as an everyday carry. $460, forged, cerakoted, feeds everything…what’s not to like?! Only thing I did was NHC Everlast recoil system for commander, Wilson plunger assembly, and some seeet VZs. Turned out great imo!

If you remember from previous post about this 1911, I wasn’t too much of a fan of the safety engagement; it did well and never came off safety I just prefer a more positive “click”. That was my only complaint I guess you can say for that $460 railed commander in God’s Caliber. Today, I got in a...

Ordered some cheap clear grips to put on the A1 Tisas. Had my son draw me a picture for one side, it’s a heart and a drawing of me. On the right side is my wife. The grips are pretty clear but they don’t fit at the top on the safety side, the plunger hits it and it won’t sit flush. So I’ll look...

I have another post about my nephew and his new Tisas 1911 Tanker. I am following up with this one to kind of tell what I found and ask a few questions, and maybe someone can answer a question I did not know I had. I will be comparing what I find in his to my Ruger 1911 Full size (5") The...

Eh, I couldn’t help it. I was looking around at my LGS, and they had what’s basically a railed commander from Tisas cerakoted black in 45acp. $450…I said why not; I’ve been impressed with my A1 from them so far. Luckily they had one in the box that hasn’t been fingered so I got that one. The...

Wanting to get a hi-power, but the recent purchases have hit the bank hard lol. So I’m looking for one of the Tisas HP’s as I have heard a lot of good things about them.
  11. Range Reports & Reviews
Made it to the range today, super humid and raining. Lucky for me the only range I have locally has holes in the roof, no working ventilation, brass covering floor, just perfect, but I digress. First up was the SDS Tisas 1911A1. Tested factory mag, and a WC mag, 100% reliability in both with...

Very exciting day today! I recently purchased this Wilson from a member here on the forum and I couldn’t be happier. Beautiful fit and finish, and I really like the two tone. This is my first “semi custom” and the feel of the slide and you rack it back just sets itself apart. I actually have...

I'm wondering if anyone here has got a Tisas 1911 that they've put over 1K rounds through. Trying to get a feel for long term durability of them because I'm considering buying one as a range toy. I posted a similar thread on TOOS, but about all I got were snide comments. I'm trying to see how...

With regards to the SDS Tisas 1911A1 Service, I know the frame and slide are cerakoted, but are they carbon steel or stainless steel underneath?

Classic Firearms has a deal right now on SDS Imports Tisas 1991A1 Mil-Spec pistol for $339. It's a Turkish made clone, I have not seen/handled any of their weapons but at that price I may have to check one out.

The LKCI-Tisas Regent BR9 High power has caught my attention! It looks like a well made pistol for right around $550.00 including S/H. Order directly from LKCI to your FFL. (740) 763-0027. Check the videos and review below. The BR9 fed everything from 95 Gr. to 165 Gr. including HP and...
  18. 1911 Gunsmithing
Been looking around a little at some of the 1911 kits that are available, and they seem like they would end up costing as much as a good assembled gun. Has anyone used one of these? Are the slides, frames, and barrels in these guns decent quality for a project starting point? This would be far...

Hey All, I'd like to know from you guys/gals whether or not the Rock Island is still the Top of the Heap when it comes to the Sub-$500 1911. I was at Bud's checking out his listing of 1911's and he sells quite a bit of these affordable 1911's. I have never heard of a couple of them, but 1 of...
