1* 1911's

    How many of these were made, on what frames, and by who?

    I've seen a few posted on various forums and I thought they were all Yost-Bonitz but tonight I found one done by Novak on a Kimber frame. The price was $2,200. It had the Novak logo on the slide under the front sight and the 1* logo on the rear right side.

    I know that Gary Paul Johnston originated the "saying" and that it's used by SWAT teams, but other than that I'm clueless. There seems to be a LOT of novelty items with it.

    I think it's Joe? that has the Baer...so how many, on what frames, and who all makes them?

    not sure how many maker's licensed the "1*" logo from Gary Paul Johnston to put on their guns.

    I kinda doubt there was any record of total production since there were several places building with this logo. Here's a post from Yost on those pistols, not that is sheds a bunch of light - http://forums.1911forum.com/showpost.php?p=2442701&postcount=4


    Most of the time they were built on SA's from what I've seen, but since they were "package" builds, it would depend on what the owner felt like sending for work.

    Ok, so it sounds like the Kimber wasn't worth the $2,200 they were asking, which is what I thought. It's also nice to know that Yost didn't build many of those guns. Without seeing the spec sheet, I'm not sure what that particular pistol actually had done to it from Novak. I didn't have much time to look at it.
