Howdy all looking for a little assist on the above.

Purchased a 1911 CC with a Colt Slide and Barrel on an Essex Arm's frame. Nice action, tight and shoots well. Was interested in the history on the Essex. Frame Serial # is SS 9155.

Would appreciate any insight one may have. Many thanks.

Welcome to the forum. Essex has been around a long time making inexpensive cast frames, my dad built a 1911 in the '70s on an Essex frame. I'd imagine that the quality improved to some degree over time
but they're known for being inexpensive/lower end. That said, there's
lots of guns out there built on Essex frames and most probably shoot and hold up okay.

Welcome. Essex as a popular replacement frame after WW 2, or a bit later. I've often felt that ex GI s got nervous with their bring backs and either defaced the frame ( we still see these pistols turn up) or better yet replaced with Essex or the like. Not the case with OPs commander just rambling this morning. Looks like a great cmdr, grip safety nicely fit and OP reports shoots well at range. Congratulations
