Still looking for my first 1911. Does anyone know the website that shows pics and description of 1911 features, and has the option to build the gun? I thought I bookmarked it but I guess not. I know it's out there somewhere.

Thanks, I've been looking for a week. I'll know to come to the experts earlier next time- only after I make a reasonable attempt to find it on my own.

feel free to ask, i don't think you'll get the canned "search" or "use your Google-fu" over here.

I don't need to buy real 1911's now, I can just use that program every week or two.

Since I am very impulsive I am still trying to do all the research I can for my first. The problem is finding guns with those features to actually handle in the shops...most around me have nothing custom, but most have TRPs. So I'm thinking TRP, or Dan Wesson, or Les Baer. For some reason I really like the look of the Baer Monolith. Does the extra weight in front throw off the traditional 1911 balance? I'm sure it helps with re-acquiring the target for follow-up.
