A friend inherited this cross breed 1911 with a RR frame / Colt slide. I was trying to help him ID the slide era. Any help would be appreciated

Go to proof house.com and look up the serial number for the frame. I think it will tell you the year and the manufacturer. The slide era I’ll let the experts identify.

FJA is as it appears you are aware is Remington Rand. Frams were made by them from 1942 to 1945 only.

with the exception of colt all USGI 1911A1 frames were made between 1941 and 1945. No further frames were made after WWII
Title says slide ID then your body of the message asks for frame ID.
based on the markings the slide could be from any time from 1945 to late 1960’s

I just noticed my mistake … I meant slide. Thanks !
The frame is probably Remington-Rand, but Frank J. Atwood inspected Ithaca guns as well, so the surest thing is to check the serial number against the assigned number block records.

Colt was the exclusive supplier for spare slides immediately postwar for some period, and the roll markings are definitely that of a postwar replacement and not a wartime production.
