Hello everyone! Im a single parent...Military veteran and im on a limited budget. I want to "splurge" and spent within my means and I have around $2200-$2500. I would like to get into the upper echelon but I might not have enough funds...
If you had around that budget what you get???

Happy Shooting and Semper Fidelis!

I'm an STI fan myself. That's where I'd be looking. Pricing ranges from $1,000 to $3,000 range, used to new. New being the Staccato brand now. I own 4 and not a bad shooter in the bunch. Do your research, I can't stress that enough.

Check out the Dan Wesson models. Nicely put together for the price and great shooters. A favorite recommendation around here.

Depends, if you want to buy new you can probably find some Baers in that range, call Crazy John and see what he has.
If you want to be smart, watch the classifieds here and be ready to snatch up a deal when it comes along. It's not uncommon to find very low mileage 1911s in excellent condition that originally sold for $3500+ with asking prices in the $2500 range.

Dan Wesson. Brings you in under your budget depending. You may well find a nice condition used Baer in the classifieds if you're quick.

Dan Wessons are good mid range pistols with very good quality. Baers are a step up from that. But hard to beat the price point of a Dan Wesson for the pricing.

Used Baer, used Dan Wesson. From someone you trust. And if you are going to do a WTB, vet that person hard and don’t rush anything.

I own 3 DW's and a Staccato C2. All within your budget and excellent pistols. Buying used can save you some coin as well.

First off, thank you for your service!

To your question I agree with the philosophy of watch the classifieds and be ready to pounce. I personally prefer to go for higher end guns with a little wear for a bigger discount. Karl sold a nice Wilson here this weekend for an EXCELLENT price I believe mainly bc it had noticeable wear. If you like a new pistol I agree with cj1911heaven.com but I'm known to be bias towards Baers!

I can relate. I too am a single parent. My hat is off to you sir and I am thankful for your service!
I'll echo what some of the others are saying. If you are dead set on buying now I'd buy a new or used DW. If though you are willing to wait some I'd and on to the gun fund and keep a close eye on the classifieds. It wouldn't take much more to land a NH or even better an Alchemy.

I'd go Staccato. I actually just ordered my third one. I recently picked up a used DW Specialist, and while it's a nice gun, my experience with them has been terrible (that's for another post coming soon).

I've bought two DWs off of Gunbroker that were both used. Both were in excellent condition, with the ECO, I believe, being in unfired condition by the first purchaser. At any rate, with some vigilance, it is not difficult to find a very lightly used, quality 1911/2011 and purchase it for hundreds off of new pricing.

Thank you so much! Ill have to take a look at the Staccato! I have heard nothing but great things about the company. I am not really wanting a 9mm. I would prefer either a 45 acp or 10mm.

Thank you for responding to my post!

Thank you for responding to my post! I have a Dan Wesson Bruin in 10mm. I love it! I have had no issues and although they are still considered "production guns" they are made well. I am looking for a step above Dan Wesson ie Baer, Wilson Combat, Staccato etc.

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to respond to my post!

Thank you! I forgot to specify that the pistol does not need to be new! Man some of the used pistols on this site look phenomenal! I am very very very reluctant, scared, uneasy about sending large amounts of money to someone I really dont know.
I am unfortunately a single parent and I work two jobs barely stayin a float. If I were to lose $2400 that would destroy me.
I appreciate all the feedback!

Without a doubt I'd spend that $2,500 with Crazy John on a brand new Les Baer.

If I was wanting a target model then I'd go with the Premier 2.

If I was wanting a carry model then I'd go with a UTC w/o front cocking serrations or a Custom Carry.

Done.

Money well spent. ✔

Uncle Bob,
Thank you so much for the recommendations! I have a Dan Wesson Bruin in 10mm. Its the longslide 6.3 inch barrel and man oh man is that thing fun! I am looking for a semi custom/custom 1911 in 45 acp. I dont mind if it is used as long as its in decent shape.... I ACTUALLY SHOOT MY PISTOLS!

Have a great day,

Matthew
