Hello everyone! Im a single parent...Military veteran and im on a limited budget. I want to "splurge" and spent within my means and I have around $2200-$2500. I would like to get into the upper echelon but I might not have enough funds...
If you had around that budget what you get???

Happy Shooting and Semper Fidelis!

Springfield TRP and a lot of ammo
Staccato for me or a Colt Delta Elite Rail if I could find one.

I would say a Dan Wesson TCP. It’s a solid pistol, fast and accurate. It’s not a Wilson, it’s not a Nighthawk and but it feels semi-custom. Def a professional piece. With this price you’ll have a bit extra left in your budget for a nice Surefire X300 for that rail too.

I posted yesterday about my Les Baer - maybe the results of the first full box thru it will help you decide:

In that perfect price range..I’d go Les Baer 45.. damn nice custom 1911 for $2500 bucks.. or… Dan Wesson Specialist. 9 or 45… $1800- $2200 .. I like the Dan Wesson Guardian…lots of guys have that one on this site..

You can get a Colt Gold Cup starting at around $1,250. There are many custom 1911's out there that you may find used. I bought my Wilson Combat Protector Elite for much less than it was new. I don't think it had more than a couple boxes of shells fired through it. Of course, I just may have been in the right place at the right time. Dan Wessons are a very good choice, but don't overlook a Springfield Armory.
For 1911s, I would get a used Guncrafter, Les Baer, and Dan Wesson in that order. Thing is that you can also just buy a Colt and shoot it then use it as a base gun later on for a Burton or Yost build.

And a 10 year wait! 😉

I don’t know what the wait it but I wouldn’t doubt it at this point. But if you are young enough and patient enough…. I know I am certainly not.
I'd call Caspian, order a slide & frame with the features I want. Call Briley and order the appropriate barrel. Browse Brownell's, Midway, Speed Shooters, Shooter's Connection and a dozen other sites and order all the other parts I need. Go to the liquor store and buy a bottle of Glenlivet and wait for everything to arrive. ;)
This is what happens when you do this the right way:
All of these have between $1800 and $2500 in parts alone. THOUSANDS of hours of planning, research, troubleshooting and physical work. But to me? Worth more than any $2500 production gun.

You don't need to spend 2,500--you can buy a lot of gun for under 1500

Good luck!

I think for the money, a Les Baer is unbeatable. I own 2, both Hillsdale PII guns and am very happy with them. I bought both used and got one for $1500 and the other for $2100. I also have owned a LeClaire built one but the slightly larger grip frame didn't fit me as well as the Hillsdale so I sold it.
Used Ed Brown,Wilson.combat or someone's customs pistol. Their is many times a customs pistol around for that money

Anyone know why the OP was banned a year ago ?

Since this thread seems to continue, my Wilson Combat Protector Elite has an accuracy guarantee of 1" @25 yards, I deem it more accurate than I am. My WC has never malfunctioned, I trust it to be an EDC. Of course Les Baer, Ed Brown, and a few others are excellent choices. One could go for the very tops and buy a Cabot, but then you'd have to be a crooked politician to afford one!

I'd also like to know why he was banned. He was trying to get me to buy an HK USP45T.
I think id try to beg @TheCollector to put me on his books.
For you Sean, at $2500 I would sell almost any TCC I have projected to date.... your choice. o_O
