I'm seriously contemplating an upper in this caliber but bullet selection and available ammunition is lacking atm. At least Remington is committed to supporting it.

Ammo supply is lacking, at the moment. However I think (or at least hope) .300 BLKs popularity (and thus ammo supply) will increase now that S&W is offering their M&P15s in .300 BLK. I certainly want a .300 BLK rifle.

Hornady will be selling .300 Whisper ammo in 2012, that's good news.

Noveske is also offering .300 BLK rifles. The Remington/AAC relationship has also devoted considerable resources to the caliber. Overall the appeal is the 30 cal bullet with the 5.56 package size. I still haven't dug into the ballistics and energy numbers in depth yet but I'm interested in a rilfle as well. New barrel and barrel extension on a 5.56 rifle and you're good to go.

Those of you that are looking for more information may find this helpful... http://www.300blktalk.com/ I haven't browsed it much so I'm not endorsing it. Just letting you know it's there.

CMMG sells .300BLK uppers for $580, I might have to pick one up.
