Weeding out some rifles. I have 2 .300 Win Mags (Winchester Super Grade w/BOSS and M70 w/BOSS), 2 .300 Wby's (Vanguard and Alaskan stainlaess/synthetic), 2 .338 Win Mags (Stainless synthetic M70 w/BOSS and blued T/C Venture); and a custom M700 BDL in .340 Wby

Kinda thinking about hanging onto a .300 Win Mag. Thoughts?

What is your goal? Any of the calibers is suitable for North American large game.

Non-Wby rifles would be cheaper to feed but I’ve always had a sweet spot for the 340 Wby.

If I had to choose, I’d go with the Winchester Super Grade in 300 Win Mag. Good long range hunting and target caliber.

.300 win mag is being used by US armed forces. So is .338 Lapua Magnum. Your decision.

1) M70 .300 WM w/BOSS Super Grade is just too nice for ME to hunt with.
2) Blued M70 .300 WM w/BOSS just makes sense....o:
3)*** S/S M70 w/ BOSS in .338 WM is just hard to part with
4) Wby .300 Wby VG is of no sentimental value other than it went on my first Elk hunt.
5) .300 Wby Alaskan (S/S) is almost perfect....:)
6) .338 WM T/C Venture is just too plain jane...
7) Custom M700 .340 Wby is just plain badass, but unneeded....o:

Maybe have answered my own questions... :bag: ;)

Keep the .338 but get rid of the hideous thing on the end. Have the barrel cut to 23" and a good crown job and you will have a delightful everything on the North American continent hunting rifle.

I'd take the roughly 4 grand you'd get from those rifles, put it in the bank and sit tight for awhile. At some point, you'll realize you probably didn't need them, and that you only wanted them.

But if you can't quite do that, keep whichever rifle shoots the best regardless of what it is, and keep that one.

Think of the space in the safe you'll open up... :p
