First, a huge thanks to Quack for Recommending Dan at Baltimore's Best Pawn for my pre-order. The price and service given by Dan was second to none. He's an asset to this forum, and I'll always check with him first before ordering any firearm in the future.
Second, about his gun. I've been wanting to get a STI for a while. I've own or have owned Nighthawks, a Wilson, a Baer, and two Springfields. I've never had a 2011, but always liked the idea of a 9mm double stack 1911 platform. So, just prior to SHOT last year I was going to order a STI Tactical 4.0. While I procrastinated, SHOT happened, and I saw a video from range day of some guy shooting the Costa Carry Comp. I set out to find out everything I could, which wasn't much. Well, no better way to get info than just buying one. I got my pre-order in and waited. And waited. Called STI, they said June. Then October. In November, they started popping up on GunBroker. When I went to SHOT 3 weeks first booth I went to was STI. After some compassionate words with their sales mgr, he promised me four weeks. Well, I got the call from Dan on Monday, and picked it up yesterday. I grabbed some quick pics and I'll get some rounds through it tomorrow. My initial impressions are I really love the looks and grip. It's tight, and feels smooth. I'll get more pics soon, and make a video and post them in this thread. Here are a couple for now. Glad you got it.

STI has struggled since their management change a few years back.

Lmao. It's not THAT bad. However, I don't know why they call it a " Carry Comp"

Very cool, but that pistol is a MOOSE!
No idea where the "carry" comes into play.

    Congrats on the new acquisition!

I read somewhere that it was named the "carry" because they intended it for appendix carry so people could "comp".... Get it?

Ok that's badass and I want one too.

It's a carry comp because of the way the compensator is "built in" to the slide. There is no added length when a comp is installed in carry fashion, versus a standard compensator install where the comp hangs out 1-2" beyond the end of the slide. The intent of integrating the comp into the slide was to have a gun that's compensated, yet carry-able. Hence, carry comp.
What's the name of the LGS? I've been looking for one to buy but not looking to be gouged on one.

I would go with Dan, they were asking $3,700.00 for it. Now you know why I just fondled it and didn't bring it home with me.

I too got to fondle one last week at my lgs. Shouldn't have because I'm in no position to buy one right now. I doubt it is still there. The price was $2850 ish. No that's not a typo.
