So 2 things, first this seems like a great deal. Hopefully if any of you have been looking for a 38 super colt it helps. The non blem is about $90 more. I got the blem because I know me and I will be fitting and EGW grip safety and thumb safety at a minimum and probably doing a high polish and reblue. That being said, is this a bad idea? Do you think there’s a chance this model could ever have collector value? It’s a series 80 so I’m thinking no, but I would hate to permanently modify it and find out that it ends up being valuable. Just looking for some opinions.

I dont think they will be collectable so to speak. I dont worry about that anyway. I put on the gun what I want for its specific purpose, if any. I personally dont buy a gun to never shoot it and/or just stay in the safe. IMO, save a few bucks and hack away! I couldn't even buy a pre war gun and not have it done up. Call it sacrilege if you want.

This is a standard mas produced Colt. I doubt any of us will be alive to possibly see any real collector value. I would not make that bet anyhow.....Colt has some really nice authorized sales going on. It is a great time to take advantage and grab some great buys....
I have been looking at these as well. Seems like a decent price as well. Good luck with your project.
I have a LW Commander 9mm with a 38 Comp barrel. You just need barrel, mags, barrel bushing and heavier recoil spring. 38 Comp feeds fine in 9mm slide.

I have a Similar production colt commander 38 super, It has a very/extremely low serial number for this production run. I’m thinking it will be highly unlikely that I will see the value rise for any realistic gain In my lifetime.
