I got this not too long ago and finally took it to the range. What a sweetheart to shoot. Nothing compares to a 3rd gen Smith. Totally controllable and a joy to fire. I fired a few different loads including some high dollar JHPs. It functioned perfectly and impressed me with its stability. Gotta love those 3rd gen Smith’s. It’s a tank that drives like a car. They will cycle anything and everything you put in the mag.
    I've owned MANY 10XX series and still have (3) 1076's and a 1066.
    Which model do you have?

I had a 1006 several years ago, and yes, they are a joy to shoot.

Nice 1006. They are truly a joy to shoot!
Unfortunately factory mags are becoming scarce, and worth their weight in gold

I actually scored one of the first 40 1006's made, I love shooting it. My only complaint is, I wish it didn't launch the brass a mile!

External Extractor, Badasss Spring. Gen 3's mantra. But they work...

Man I love those 3rd generations, they are way undervalued. The build quality on those puts to shame a lot of our "modern" semi-autos. When I see them for $300-400 in a shop I can't hardly walk out without it.

Not 10mm, not sure if I have ever seen a 10mm available in real life but two weeks ago I'm in LGS and there was a nice 3913 in the case for $340. I walked down to counter looking at the rest of the inventory, when I returned another fellow was looking at it and bought it. I've got 4 or 5 of them in the safe, kind of hesitated too long. I'm sure a nice 10mm would be double that.

While not a 3rd gen, I have a Smith 645 that is a lot of fun to shoot.

Yeah, the 10mm’s seem to bring a bit more.
