It's been just long enough since I owned a 1911 that I'm coming back now and there is a proliferation of 1911 models in 9mm.

Is it the general consensus that a decent quality 9mm 1911 is every bit as reliable and funcational as a 45ACP model?

I've got two 9mm 1911's , a Kimber Pro Carry and a Citadel full size . They've both been 100% reliable and accurate . The Citadel is an all steel gun . Virtually no recoil and extremely accurate , not to mention inexpensive . A real bargain .

The 5" 9mm 1911s I've owned have been great, accurate and reliable, and smokin' fast shooters that are super fun.

    I’ve got a few .45 1911’s I’d be happy to sell you so I can buy more 9mm 1911’s :)

Yes, they are and if you want to be in the "cool club" skip the 9mm and go right to 38 super ;)

I love my DW and STI 9mm's.
I recently let a tricked out Trojan 9mm go to a buddy of mine. I have tried to buy it back three times to no avail.

Dont buy a Springer. Or do. Mine doesn't run so hot. Just got a Colt. Will see how she does. I assume that you live in a free state so any of the offerings from the normal semi custom players should do you right.

    Yes.

I have a 5" Wilson Combat, Protector model, in 9mm...that has been 100% reliable right out of the box...I bought it new & It is 13 yrs old now and has about 275,000 rds thru it.

About 2 yrs ago, I retired a Wilson CQB 5" in .45acp as my carry gun because of increasing arthritis issues....so the 9mm is now my primary carry gun, as well as my primary weekly buddy shoot gun. 9mm's in 1911's, when well made and tuned properly, like any 1911 ...will perform toe to toe with any well made 1911 in .45acp

We took the DW Guardians for their initial range run Wed. The better half took her favorite (Sig P232) and her 9mm Guardian......... she now has a new favorite!
I ran the .38 superb (as Dwe calls em) Both of them ran without a sneeze. Mine put them right where you point it... until she tried it. I think the trigger is a bit long for her so I have a shorty on its way.
