So a guy walks into a gun store He sees a that new Ruger 5.7, a brand new CZ compact and a DW 9mm VBOB.... well which do you think I threw some cheddar on..... up the Dan Wesson 9mm VBOB in pristine condition and it also has a 11 degree crowned barrel (the LGS guy said it comes like that now). Ive never seen one unless the the person orders some custom work done to it. Well of course I have a little bit to go to pay it off and before I do I need to know how the Commander length VBOB handles the 9mm round? Especially hollow points and hell anything, this is and will be my new carry and want to know if there have been issues with DW commanders handle the 9mm. I owned the .45 acp and of course I also owned the O.G., the DW CBOB just when DW start getting attention as a contender and even a member of COTEP if there are any fellas that remember it. Unfortunately I misplaced the dam card. But should I go into something else or would you feel comfortable using a 9mm VBOB as your primary carry thanks, I’ll post the VBOB in .45 I sold on here maybe a couple years ago but it looks exactly the same except for the crowned barrel and it being in 9mm. I’m actually sick a 9mn but I have had 2 lemons when it comes to 9mm 1911’s.. please enlighten me so I can get out or go all the way ( I friggin sound like a teenager) I put a minimal payment and planned on snagging her this week. Yes or no? 👍

I just want to know if their reliable in 9mm, because if they are not, I will go with something that I can rely on. I seen his thread I believe. Wonder why he’s selling such a nice pistol. That’s my main concern. I love Dan Wesson but the 9mm chambered in a 1911 always makes me nervous! Lol

My EDC is a 9mm DW Guardian which is almost the same gun, but has an aluminum frame. Got about 7500 rounds on it with only 2 malfunctions. I can't even say that about my Glocks. DW 9mm's have tight chambers. Avoid Magtech ammo. My carry ammo is 147gr HST standard pressure. Get yourself some Metalform "Springfield style" 9mm magazines from Greg Cote LLC. Enjoy!

If you're sick of 9mm and have so many concerns, why are you even looking at this gun?

@x95mk220 - although it's likely been stated here above (I didn't skim the whole thread), please allow me, as someone who's owned nearly two dozen 1911's in prices ranging from $500 to $5,000, the Dan Wesson 1911s are far and away the absolute BEST VALUE available in their respective price-ranges. The BEST.

The GOOD news: this gun has about a 99.2% chance of reliably cycling WHATEVER you choose to feed it.

The BAD news: if you somehow find your gun to falls into that 0.8% range... you'll be subject to what most folks consider merely the top FIVE in terms of excellent Customer Service... as opposed to the top THREE.

;-)

If your gun exhibits issues of ANY kind whatsoever... it'll be gone and back to you, 100% FIX'T, before you have time to blink, and with a minimum of fuss...

As you mentioned, some previously optional or upgrade features are now Standard.

These are great guns, and you should see ZERO issues. Congrats!!

A SS 2014 9mm VBob was my first Dan Wesson,.
I had it coverted to a dual caliber 9mm/38 super.
It was both accurate and reliable and was fit as well as any
semi custom I ever owned. It was easy to carry and a pleasure to shoot
albeit after the 38 super barrel was installed, the 9mm didn't get much love.

Unfortunately ....
A few months ago I needed to raise some funds and let it go. if I remember right,
I think it is still on the bottom shelf of crowded safe belonging to a good friend, @TheCollector.

The good news is that I was given a chance buy another from a good friend @Xringchaser,
to right that wrong and now all is well. Even had a new factory 38 Super barrel.

So Fear not OP...if I were you, I would grab it.

She sure is a beaut! I’m just waiting on a check to cash her out.

First is because I’m a hardcore Dan Wesson fan from the very beginning when nobody barely spoke of a Dan Wesson 1911 or spoke of the great fella Kieth (that does take care of his customer’s and I know of there customer service is EXCELLENT) except their wheel guns and maybe you took my comment wrong. I’m sick of buying a 9mm 1911-type pistol that are finicky or have constant FTF, FTE, etc until it’s fine tuned. I just want a 9mm 1911 to actually work for me for once straight out of the box, I have had a few 9mm 1911 lemons in the past and these weren’t the cheap sort neither. I’ve been a fan of Dan Wesson ever since the I purchased the original CBOB Classic in .45 acp when it came out, I also had a VBOB In .45 acp I sold on this website (which I miss dearly). So when I saw the exact configuration as the .45 VBOB in 9mm, I couldn’t help to snag it and never owned a DW in 9mm & thought if anyone can get it right besides the Staccato 2011, Dan Wesson would be the one I’d count on. Besides there is nothing wrong with looking or asking asking the fine members on this awesome website their opinions of something I’m purchasing. I can complain all I want about a gun and look at it or even buy it after complaining about it, so sorry if that bothers you but I’m looking for advice not criticism. I hope that answers your question.

I would not hesitate buying it. Though I do not own a 9mm VBOB, I do have (3) DW 9's, a full size Valor, a Vigil Commander and a Valkyrie Commander. The Vigil had a little initial problem at times not locking back on the last round, that was early in it's life. But it settled in and since then, not any problems from any of them.
