Last week was an eventful one! I found two 1911s I have been on the casual hunt for locally - which while lightening the wallet considerably are well worth it and great shooters! On top a new Colt Gold Cup National Match .45 - a lovely pistol and very well crafted out of the factory. I posted asking folks to talk me out of it...and that didn't happen obviously! It is a fantastic shooter...super flat and the trigger is pretty darn good out of the box. I have no plans to alter this one in any fashion....it's a pleasure as-is! On to the most recent impulse buy....the bottom is a Dan Wesson Valor 9mm Stainless. LGS has had this one in the case for the past 9 months or so - but it was marked WAY up. They finally just wanted to move it so when I went to shoot earlier this week, they had it in the "clearance" cabinet for $1,365 - a very reasonable price, so I picked it up. I can't really imagine a much flatter shooting 9mm. Frankly the smoothness of it reminds me of the CZ Shadow 2 in many respects. A LOT of this is purely due the the hefty stainless frame of course. It really is a VERY well made pistol like all of the DWs I own....though the fitment of the slide to frame and the lockup on this one seem tighter than my Guardian, and even the Valkyries I owned previously.
