1911 American Ivory Pistol Grips
AMERICAN IVORY TM is a new lab created material we are working with that is unlike and superior to any other simulated, imitation or faux ivory because it has varying vertical grain AND end grain that looks just like elephant ivory.www.boonetrading.com
Again, thank you. As advised I have signed up, and now to explain to the treasurer*…I do not know if they are still doing it, but when I bought mine a year ago if you signed up for their emails you received 10% off on your first order. With the free shipping I paid $76.50 total. And they do not overload you with emails, I receive one every month or two.
My class on finishing and engraving is having “The Debate” about which is better: bluing or spray-on finishes. There are quite a few aspiring gunsmiths who believe the wonder sprays are the wave of the future, but there’s a surprising number of old farts like me who are more into blued steel and walnut. There is hope for the future! DLC is probably my second favorite.I’m planning on going back to traditional bluing for all my shooters(maybe a few stainless guns too)
I agree, and for me (at least right now) I like my daily carry gun with its CeraKote finish. I’ve carried blued guns regularly as well, and I must say that I’m better at keeping them clean and oiled when they’re blued. As an example, my blued pistol got field stripped and wiped down with an oily rag nightly, while my FDE pistol gets that treatment weekly unless circumstances require it sooner. Now the DLC guns I’ve had experience with looked as good as blued guns, and had better durability than Cerakoted pistols. I’ve seen DLC that were carried daily in kydex, that had zero wear marks on them. That’s just quality.I believe DLC is not susceptible to the milk cloud staining that Nitride is so that has merit. I have seen some awesome Cerakote jobs too, and it is easily refreshed
I’ve got to agree with you @OldCuzThis was the best looking 1911 I've owned so far I think. I sold it as it was a 38 Super. I got rid of all my 38 S ammo and guns. Just wanted to show off some pics of it.

Good list, but of course I'm sure there would be a lot of people who disagreed with it. I do appreciate that they evaluate guns that they want to, without being pressured not to review guns just because they are expensive. I get tired of people griping about that very thing in letters to the editor in some of my favorite gun magazines. If you don't know about the absolute best guns available, how will you know what to aspire to? I've been reading about guns I couldn't afford since I was a snot nosed, wet behind the years, knee high to a grasshopper rug rat! Because of that, I have learned what quality truly is, and own or have owned guns that I could only dream about when I was young. One thing I would say about the video: The narrator considers Alchemy/Cabot to be the very pinnacle of 1911's built today. What's he gonna do when he finds out about @pistolwretch , or @Integrity Arms , or @Greg Derr ? His freaking head may explode, or his bank account will implode... LoL, then he'll learn the definition of a true 1911 Addict!!New video, featuring 3 1911’s. Enjoy guys!
-BTW I was notified my ACW Two-tone Prodigy is ready to go, I’ll try to get a picture of it posted here next week.

Absolutely, two different animals. I used to think (many years ago!) that Kimber was the pinnacle of production pistols, and then I got to shoot a Nighthawk. It's like going from an Escort GT to a Ford GT- Yeah, they're both cars and they both say "GT" on 'em, but man...Take this for what it's worth...Steve himself will tell you that he's not the gunsmith I am. I consider Steve above Greg Derr in the area he covers. Greg does a different thing. Chuck is in a class by himself.
You can't compare guys that modify existing guns to guys that MANUFACTURE guns and have all the equipment to do so. It's just not the same thing.
Now...someone send me your base Colt and see what I do with it, then we'll talk.
Tell you what, I’ll fire up the smoker if you’re bringing that to shoot…Thank you! I'm lucky to own it and going to give it good home though I might not run it as hard as some of the others. I'm just waiting to get invited to a Texas BBQ
Small parts? What are those?I hate it when my small parts look funky
That’s a fine looking pistola Gary, can’t wait to see the finished product!Hopefully have it here in a couple of weeks. I’m going to have impact machine mill the slide for a Aimpoint Arco P2. It will be direct mount.

Dang Gary, you’re making me drool over here! I’m starting to think a 9mm might be a good idea…
