Wondering if I should have my head checked or if I’m thinking correctly. I have a build coming in from Chuck Rogers, it will be my third and final build from him unless by some miracle his books open up again. All 3 are based on Colt’s in .45 acp. My first was a commander, the second and third are S70 government models.

I had the crazy thought last night that I could sell the 2nd Government model to fund the third and perhaps even have additional work done on the third that I’m currently not considering due to financial restraints.

The collector in me says never sell, the practical side in me knows I can only shoot one gun at a time and at 52 years of age whether I like it or not at some point I’m going to have to sell my guns - no family to leave them too.

At 52, hopefully ( but not guaranteed) you have a lot of time left. I hit 70 this year and have sold all my high end guns (Chambers, BEC/Rogers, Harrison, and Volkmann), but have kept my mid price guns. From a function standpoint I find little difference. Since I am on fixed income at some point I will move to even lower value guns. Hopefully we both have time to enjoy the ones we have

Do not go gentle into that good night
    Dylan Thomas, 1914 - 1953
Do not go gentle into that good night,
    Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

From The Poems of Dylan Thomas, published by New Directions. Cop

When Mr. Given welches on that prescription please call/text/email me, I'm 72 and living every day just like you.

Rogers Colt 1911 full house build.

Honestly the new build has 2-3 improvements over the current build but there’s really only so much one can do to a 1911 unless you just want to throw money at a smith to polish and machine every square inch of the gun

Nice to know there is interest! The other problem is figuring out value, not like his guns are sold regularly

Well I've got 10 years on you and I'm now selling off some duplicates or "close tos" of some of my stuff-still have plenty to split between my sons. I frankly only shoot/carry a couple of them (my new to me 2002 TRS & the 9mm SA RO Elite Compact) so figure it's time to free up some cash to put away for a rainy day. It's what makes me happy.

Do what makes you happy, good luck.

I'll turn 75 on Nov. 6th and still shoot just about every week. I'm selling off my lower priced pistols at this point. Hoping for an election day birthday present - no "blue wave"!

I’ll be in the final stanza of my 60’s next year. Most of my body parts have been fixed except for those that can’t be helped; if I were a car I’d be a Fiat. I plan to shoot until I can’t safely operate a 1911.

Just turned 74 on Halloween and getting parts ready for my next build. We have been saving serial number 75 for my 75th birthday.
The pistol will be a Master Grade from Bill's Custom Automatics. Plan to shoot as long as I'm capable.
