Ladies and Gentleman,

I am a FIRM believer in using the search function AND reading previous posts. So, with that being said. I have been a Glock guy for the last decade. I am now the proud owner of DW ECP in 9mm. She came with a beautiful Warbird IWB and I really appreciate the craftsmanship in it. I understand after reading multiple post that Milt Spark seems to be the best to try for another leather style IWB. But I have zero issues with the Warbird, it's a nice piece of leather.

The question I have for y'all is this. Does anyone run a 1911 in and appendix carry rig? I run a G22 with a TLR1 appendix for work and a G19 & G48 also. So I'm not unfamiliar with this set up, I am however unfamiliar with this set up in the 1911 and independently poor. So slinging monies around just ain't my thing to try out a holster. Any advice and opinions would be appreciated.

Also, if I missed a thread talking SPECIFICALLY about 1911 Appendix Carry let me know! Thanks

I never really thought about it until you posted this. When I run my glocks, I always use appendix carry with an extra mag. But whenever I carry a 1911, I 100% of the time carry IWB at 7 o'clock(i'm a lefty) in a leather holster with a spare mag in my pocket. I never even really considered appendix with my carry 1911s.

I carry a variety of 1911 commanders in a kydex AIWB holster with a wing claw. It is my preferred method. Picked up the holster for $35 used on Arfcom and have never seen the need to buy anything "better".

I'll also share with you that although Milt Sparks Criterion is my favorite, there is minor difference between it and my Warbird in function and how well it carries. Don't drop $125+ on a Milt Sparks expecting it to be significantly better than the Warbird you have in hand.

I carry a TRP (so all steel, 5” bull barrel) with a Streamlight TLR-1 HL as my daily carry, and have only ever carried her aiwb.

I use a T5 Custom Kydex holster on a Daltech Force steelcore belt. The holster is specifically designed for aiwb (so with 0 deg cant, the claw, and the wedge), and the rig carries the weight and conceals easily.

"I never even really considered appendix with my carry 1911s."

Why??
Not really sure. Maybe I just like carrying a classic firearm in a nice leather holster. I’ve had a hard time in the past finding good left-handed Kydex holster’s, but maybe I’ll look around again and see if more companies are making them now.

Definitely appears to be a lot less makers for the 1911 variants. Any luck with Trex Arms or similar?

I have tried about 6 different holsters leather kydex etc Nothing beats the JM custom kydex aiwb holster.

https://www.jmcustomkydex.com/

The only leather one that comes close is the 5 shot leather sme at 3 times the price and 20 times the wait. but if I was against kydex and had to go leather that would be the only one I bought.

Comfort and control. Easy to draw. Great concealment.I went with the new clips and they will hold even without a belt. That strong.

I've been carrying appendix since about 1996 before it became cool.

I use a TRex Arms Raptor for my 5" NHC. I did modify it quite a bit though. None the less, end result is it carries very well, other than the occasional beaver tail jab when bending over or sitting down.

Hopefully since 1996 you have figured out how to carry cocked and locked and know the safety....If you have to draw you have a few things do think about with that hammer down.....

Also you need a better belt....Just sayin.

That said, I can't imagine a Hard Kydex holster would be comfortable day in and dau out....In and out of cars, walking...The Leather conforms to the body and the position it is worn in.

I drove 5 hours one way wearing it. Then back. No issues. Wear it day in and day out. Very active with it. Had leather and kydex. This is way more comfortable.

Kydex has better retention and doesn't deform.

That was taken at the desert range while practicing. I took it to demonstrate how I carry. But thanks for the misguided lesson. I always have the hammer down on an empty chamber with an empty mag in when someone else is on the line it's proper out here. There is always one guy ... Surprised you didn't complain about my gig line too

Not sure what you mean by a real belt that belt is designed for concealed carry and is so stiff due to the inserts I could probably use it as a bat. Plus the buckle is designed to be small and discrete. Way better than my wilderness belt. It is amazing you can make that assumption from a photo but it is the internet so.... Stroll on over to pistol forum sometime if you want to expand your knowledge.

Graith Specialist? Looks like it, and is what I use. Anyone calling those out as inferior for appendix carry is laughable for sure.

Is this the same eb07 from p-f.com that I remember running a Model 19 in a class? If so welcome aboard happy to have you over here.
