Are new Colt 1911s actually made by Colt? Does Colt really still have a custom shop?

I have been told that Colt has gone through bankruptcies and a lot of the guns with the Colt name are made by other companies. Are 1911s made by other companies? Are some of them still made by the actual Colt?

Also, I heard that there custom shop was pretty much closed down. Do they still have a real custom shop? I must say that I love my new two-tone Colt Special Combat Government in 38 Super with adjustable sites and would love it even if I were to learn it was a *******.

    I am a bit tempted by: https://www.colt.com/detail-page/colt-cstm-comp-45acp-5-fo-ccbs-sts

However, I worry it might not shoot as well as my Les Baer. And then there is the whole galling thing. Do French-made 1911's Gauling issues?

I can’t remember if it’s this site or “The Other Site” where one of the ex employees of Colt hangs out, hopefully someone will chime in and give you the straight scoop!

Current Colt 1911's are probably the best ones they have made in years.

Colt does have a Custom Shop still and they produce some fine custom 1911's and Single Action Army's.

I love my Colt Special Combat Rail Gun Commander, that's a no bullshit 1911.

They are all imported from Uzbekistan and there is a tracking device in the guide rod so the government can drone strike your house.

The only thing I am aware of a Colt roll marked gun being made my another company is their lower tier Expanse AR.

My last Colt purchase was a Custom Shop gun. Test target was late 2016. If I recall correctly.

Urban legend, but yeah colt has been mismanaged-- again
The 1903 copy made under license from colt by US armament. My newer Colts are some of my best ever.

All Colts are made in CT. The other company is gone went BR a few years ago nice people met them at a trade show. Yes the CCS is still building and shipping guns every week.
