With the recent move to big bear country, I’ve been exploring adding a 10 mm to my collection for hiking in bear country. I do own a Smith and Wesson 329 PD for when I’m hunting. That 44 magnum it sure does the trick. However, as I’m looking at options for a pistol over a revolver it naturally led me down the 10mm road. But before adding a new blaster in 10mm (I’m actually considering converting a Glock 21 to 10mm with glock 20 barrel and other requires parts). I am curious as to what my ammunition options are to gain performance. I know the buffalo bore offers a 45 super. Do you recommend other particular rounds that will function in a all steel 5 inch 1911 to pick up the speed necessary to stop a fight with an aggressive bear? I guess what I’m saying is I’m new to hot loads within the 45acp family, what options are out there? And what needs to be considered before popping said hot rod rounds into a factory gun? Buffers, heavier recoil springs? Etc?
