Just wondering what would be the best 1911 brand to buy, there is a lot of stuff out there these days?

I moved this to the right section for you since Joe is slacking!!! :rofl2:

What are you wanting the gun for? Range? Carry? Both? What price point are you looking at? What caliber? etc...

Brand wise would depend on your price point to be honest...

Well, if there were an obvious "best" 1911, that's what we would all have!

Lots of good options in different price ranges. Just remember that everything's a compromise.

The Buyer's Guide is a good resource. An STI should serve well as a 9mm for IDPA

It all depends upon your price range.

The best 45, is the one that doesn't cost you anything, goes bang every time and is in your hand when you need it

This is one of those questions that depends on so many other factors like...is it for competition shooting, self defense, collecting etc. I think it narrows down to your needs and likes nothing more. However ! It is always a plus if the gun works reliably and look healthy.
