Wanted to see what the opinions were about bobbing grip safeties on GI style pistols. Other than the aesthetics are there any pros/cons? I'm working on a pistol now and thought, before I get it refinished maybe I'll attempt to bob an extra GS. Hopefully PW doesn't mind I stole a photo, but something like this,or all the way to the tangs.

Just your preference. If you don't get hammer bite, then go for it.

    This was my old Mil-Spec:

I kept the stock safety but wanted a commander hammer so this is what I did.

Definitely think this is the look, have the tangs been modified, look like they're rounded, or can you put the regular GI grip safety back on, without it looking weird?

Tangs were not touched,.......Chuck actually fitted a standard GS as well.

Okay, okay, gotta stop with the PW stuff, my pistola will never look like that. Did think about trying to "round butt" the MSH area of the frame though. Haven't decided if I have the brass for frame mods. :hail:pW

I matched the MSH in post #6 to the frame.
I also did a round butt to a Springer Loaded that I've been doing some mods on.
Really not that hard, I hope to cold blue it this week. Will get it refinished ar a later date.

You break out the dremel for the round butt, or stick with the files and paper? I like my dremel, but it's not allowed around my guns.

Just files & a LOT of paper........only Glocks get the Dremel.

Personally, file is the best way to do a round butt.

An ever so slightly rounded butt. Hand filed.

I think my MSH may be a little to proud of the frame for me to achieve the look you have, what ya' think?
    It's a WC 30Lpi by the way.

It's not that hard. Rough out the butt with a black sharpie. Template should be on the side of the frame and also on the bottom and back of MSH.

Then file from left to right or vise versa, and then north to south.

Well wrenchbndr, I took the plunge, started the process of rounding and ended up with this
    [IMG]
Think I'm gonna round a little more off the bottom to give it a better look, but thanks for the advice, easier than I thought.
