I need another gun like a hole in the head, but Im getting the itch for a GI style 1911. What should I look at? This will be range only.

Anyone have any experience with SDS? Leaning towards RIA. Springfield is a no go for signing a deal with the devil.

You said budget, so might want to look at the TISAS GI Clone...

Getting a lot of good press, but with the increased buying going on, might be hard to find???

I guess you need to define "budget" You can get a Colt 1911C for 750. That may or may not be a budget pistol to some folks.

Yea so Reese screwed up by hiring an idiot as a political adviser. He's eaten a ton of crow over that one and hopefully learned his lesson.

Bob Reese was a gem and I've been sad for years he's gone. I will buy them (and have twice in the part year) because I will have the 45acp set up exactly the way I want it. the 9mm was an inexpensive way to find out if I'd like a 9mm LWC and I do. Having a ball with it the last 4 or so months. Shooting 9mm more than 45acp lately.

Next 1911 will be a 9mm Ronin when I find one. It too with be set up exactly the way I want it and it'll be most likely my Duty pistol since I won't use or carry a Glock.

If you looking for a cheap solution, I’d say skip it. Since it sounds like you have a bunch of guns (Id take 4 or 5 of your shittiest ones), sell them all and the. Buy something worth having.

Ive never understood buying a cheap 1911 for the sake of buying a 1911. It’s part of the reason the platform gets a bad name.

I went "inexpensive" (an RO Champion in 9mm) to see if I like it. It's going to stay fairly stock for the meantime and I'm having a ball with it. I'm going past 1200 rounds and it's taken me a long time to get used to a curved trigger. I'm shooting more 9mm than I am 45acp the past 4 months.

You could save a bit longer and buy a DW A2. You would not regret it.

My brother thinks I’m nuts for buying a few $3000+ 1911s that I shoot the **** out of. Meanwhile he has 10+ pistols at $600 each and has to deal with all those different triggers and grip angles.

save a little more and get one in the $1000+ range. Well worth it IMO.
