I’ve got a Henry .44mag carbine with case hardened receiver by Tyler Gun Works; love it & would like to give my Ruger the same treatment👍
I just polish the flats to about 400 grit and degrease. I warm the part to about 100 degrees before starting. Use Vans gun bluing and form a few small circular patterns on the part with a Q tip dipped in the bluing. . As you work the bluing in, it will turn blue in those areas. Then cover the rest of the part with more bluing and a fresh Q tip. After I’m happy with the results, I wash with dawn / warm water and then dry. After drying I degrease and apply KG Gunkote matte clear over everything. Btw… I do the internals with KG Gearkote and cure it before doing this work on the external parts of the frame. Please share your experiment in detail! That looks GOOD!![]()

That's amazing! Where does the 325 degrees you mentioned in your original post come in?I just polish the flats to about 400 grit and degrease. I warm the part to about 100 degrees before starting.
