Case hardened “look”

I use this frame to experiment with from time to time, so I decided to try out a case hardened look. After I was done, I degreased it again and coated it with KG matte clear. I know it’s not for everyone but it’s fairly easy to do and adds only 325 degrees of heat.

I’ve got a Henry .44mag carbine with case hardened receiver by Tyler Gun Works; love it & would like to give my Ruger the same treatment👍

I just polish the flats to about 400 grit and degrease. I warm the part to about 100 degrees before starting. Use Vans gun bluing and form a few small circular patterns on the part with a Q tip dipped in the bluing. . As you work the bluing in, it will turn blue in those areas. Then cover the rest of the part with more bluing and a fresh Q tip. After I’m happy with the results, I wash with dawn / warm water and then dry. After drying I degrease and apply KG Gunkote matte clear over everything. Btw… I do the internals with KG Gearkote and cure it before doing this work on the external parts of the frame.

That's amazing! Where does the 325 degrees you mentioned in your original post come in?
