applied in may.......and waiting......and waiting.........
I have the champion for 90% of my carry needs.

the full size works great for me in a SSII.

Applied in January, got it in march. Only carried on two motorcycle trips out of state, and that was with a little SIG P238 in a pocket holster. I have yet to find a reason to carry back and forth to work, or anywhere in the 'burbs...been living in this area for most of my 58 years, and have never felt the need.

I drive mainly through the southside and the westside of chicago. There are times where it gets real sketchy. I would prefer to carry then not. Burbs i have no doubt that there will be no need for me to carry but just mainly for work.

That's what my old squaw says. I carry everywhere anymore. The chances are I won't need it and neither will you but.............

Not trying to bust your balls, Bob, but crime doesn't necessarily phone in to the victim before it happens. My advice is to have and not need, rather than need and not have. Average response time for LEO in western Chicago burbs are probably better than other places, but let's just say it's 9 minutes. I've chronoed some 230 gr 45ACP at well over 900 fps. My way wins every time.

Don't disagree...But the odds are on my side...

Let's be realistic...I can't take my pistol into work, so should I go through the trouble of packing it for a 20 minute drive through very safe neighborhoods to lock it in my car, and carry back home again? I really don't see the need...
My wife and I go out to eat often...and we love our craft beers...should I be carrying a gun while drinking?...Don't think so...
I visit my Mother at her senior care facility, no carry allowed, so should I break the law? Don't think so...
I carry when we go out on the bike, far away, in very remote areas...so far, that's the only time I've felt a need...

Just sayin'...Honestly, I have different issues with carrying on the bike, but I will start a different thread about that.

To each there own
To each there own
Yes, thank you...we all apply our own risk assessment to our lives and do what we feel is correct...

Carjackers..........let that sink in for a moment.

Where exactly, do you think they prefer to find their victims, the ghetto or the "nice neighborhoods" and business districts. Your thought on this matter is severely flawed. Crime does not brake for convenience.

What are they thinking the wait times is/was?
Recently moved to Marine, will be getting mine once we establish residency, get a drivers license and obtain a FOID.
My ccw instructor told me it should be no more than 90 days due to rush being over. They said by doin fingerprints it would save me 2 weeks or so but eh..

ISP has 90 days to get it processed and returned, with fingerprints. they have a little longer if you apply without.

Never been a worry of mine. Very rare occurrence around these parts. And most of the ones you see in the news, are in the poor/dangerous neighborhoods.
Don't get me wrong, I fully support the right for any honest citizen to carry a gun. But after 58 years of never feeling the need to carry, it's hard to turn that need on just because I can carry.
Northern IL is actually getting more crimes ever since they moved all the people that lived in the projects up by Waukegan IL. But like I said, to each their own. If there hasnt been a single crime near you then more power to you :)
There are people out there who can whoop the hell out of me. Maybe kill me or someone I'm with. 10-40 years ago I kept a gun in my truck but not on me. I wasn't afraid because of being 5'7" tall and 170#. I worked out and for my size was one bad MO FO. Them days are gone. I will not take an ass whooping or ANYBODY trying to hurt my grandkids or wife who are with me. Not gonna happen. Hate getting old but it has happened and there are great ways to defend me and mine, it's called being armed at all times.

I agree, i wont take any chances especially where i work and live now. Better to be safe than sorry.

Good for you...do what you think is right and best for you and yours...
I am also 5'7", and 170 (or so). I used to be much tougher back in my 82nd days...but still, even at my age...I don't worry about it. I've tried to worry about, plenty of people tell me I should worry about, the news makers want me to worry about it, but I can't. It's just my nature not to worry and to trust people. Makes for an excellent life.

Later....
It's just my nature not to worry and to trust people.
I don't trust anybody and am always thinking of how I can kill some SOB around me. I walk fast wherever I go so you would have to run to keep up with me. Never let any body get behind me unless I have scoped them out. Don't go where crowds gather. Been that way since I was a little boy. Just me I guess but has saved my ass a few times.

Hope you never end up in a situation where you need one.

My philosophy, it is better to have it and not use it, than need it and not have it.
