I just thought I would share a little about the progress of my build with David Charyn. Since I last posted about it, we kinda went in a different direction. Instead of two barrels, David suggested two slides. And with that suggestion, we decided to make them two different builds. David said this is a first for him with him doing this with the Marvel method, which to me a great honor. This gun has always been in my mind, the build I would want and therefore the gun I would want my son to have. This build is really a love letter to my only son and David is working to make that into a gorgeous and extremely capable reality.

this first photo is the slide to frame fit as well as seeing how well the ejector fits especially considering the frame has to fit two slides.

the next two photos are ones that David just sent me for the accuracy/function testing at 25/50/100’yards. Looks like this gun will be a shooter for sure

I did send David my two RMR HDs for this build but I kinda drug my feet and they didn’t get to him in time for this function testing. But they are on their way for final finish. This build has been so exciting for me as it will be something that in my opinion exemplifies the very best of what the 2011 has to offer by what is in my opinion one of the most respected smiths in this platform. It has truly been a wonderful experience thus far and I am very excited about the finished product.

So you are the lucky recipient of this masterpiece. I have been privy to some insight on your build "as it is the gun right in front of my next build" and the work and thought that is going into this is absolutely extraordinary. A proper heirloom piece. Also, David can shoot, he was freehand violating that X ring with that thing.

Well I got some good news. The build is ready to ship to me for shooting then I will ship it back for final finishing. I am absolutely thrilled with how it’s turning out. Still undecided on a couple of things. One is the rear cocking serrations on the island barrel slide and the other is adding a front sight on the comped barrel. The rear serrations are purely an aesthetic choice but I kinda like how leaving the off makes it look so completely different from one another but I also love how David executed the rear cocking serrations on the other slide. Anyway, I will get to shoot it first and I can make those decisions later. I bought 1k rounds of 115g and another 1k rounds of 147g range ammo to test it out. I am very excited about getting the opportunity to do so. These are the photos that David sent me earlier today and to say I am enthusiastic about the results thus far would be an understatement.
