I've got a bright stainless colt detective. Cleaning it last time was work. That was 20 years ago.
Without ruining the finish how do you guys clean nickle guns?
I would post a picture but it would blind and bling the forum.

My revolvers get build up of carbon around the base of the barrel. Especially under the strap. I’ve tried carbon cleaner, brushes, thin string soaked in solvents, and the miracle polishing cloth.
Any ideas to help?

Photos of the affected area might help. If it's metal degradation / deterioration, not much will help.

I clean it like any other revolver.
