Colt 1911 Wiley Clapp 21st Century Commander

    Anyone have one of these?
It's been on my mind as my next 1911.

Is it worth the $1,300? or just go with a regular CCO?

    Thank you in advance!

I must admit that I don't know anything about the Wiley Clapp 21st Century Commander, but hey, it's a COLT!

CCO - much nicer, trust me...! Google Talo - basically they obtain permission from firearms manufacturers to dress up certain models with desirable special effects, nothing you cant do to a standard model on your own and save yourself a few hundred clams. They do seem to produce very desired effects though.

Prices on getting "the Clapp" are all over the place.
(I waited for just this moment to use that line! :animlol: )

Seriously, the set up on that Commander is damn near perfect.(I wish they would have left the FCS off)

No way, the TALO CCO is plain jane. The WC is a much nicer gun. BTW TALO doesn't dress guns up, they order them the way they want from the manufacturer.

I own one that I picked up used for 1k. Nice piece, has had one last round stovepipe in the first three hundred rounds. I would need to work a lot more with it before carrying it, but it is light and shows promise.

As to the setup, the slim grips with the checkering that mates/flows into the front grip strap checkering is an awesome and very comfortable setup.

Too bad I had to **** with it by changing the bushings to accomodate the Crimson Trace lasergrips. But the setup as it comes is very comfortable and controllable.

You are sadly mistaken my good friend Talo does the builds from standard manufacturers firearms... clarity in post - all the dress up ideas and specs are provided by Talo they are original Talo ideas for certain spec'ed out one off firearms, and the price point is set at a higher than standard firearm price, for all the upgrades. They are a MA based company as stated. BTW-I never said the Coyote was a plain Jane anything...!

The Clapp is a good pistol if you are looking for an aluminum frame commander IMHO. If you like slimmer grips, you will be pleased with them. While they are not technically slim they feel better than usual grips due to their shape ( to me ). The TS is old school and don't look for a great barrel fit ( or atleast mine didn't impress me ). I am in the middle of redoing mine and don''t regret buying it.

TALO is a distributor. They farm out the custom work. Their CCO is ordered straight from Colt.

Here's a couple quick pics of a Clapp I've been working on.
I'll be finishing it in Graphite Black Cerakote.

The high-cut looked unfinished so I reworked the area.
First with a carbide burr in a Dremel, then with files and sandpaper.
