Hello, I have a guy selling a 1972 Lw. commander in 45 cal. My question is the box says 41/2" barrel,I thought they were all 4 1/4" barrels The serial number is CLW0167XX.. Thanks in advance.

interesting? All Colt commanders are 4.25" bbls as far as I know. Perhaps the box, or the tag, are fakes?

1972 commander should be a LW. version right.

Pen skipped on the down stroke...I'm assuming it's handwritten.

My 72 Commander is steel, not a LW

Let's see a picture of the box and label if possible.

Have you measured the barrel? I think it will answer your question.

So do we believe everything we read or has someone measured the barrel of one of these guns in a 4 1/2" box? I ask not to be a wiseguy, but out of genuine interest. I wasn't aware of 4 1/2.

1972 could be either. Commander, lightweight, or combat commander, steel.
Either way and box aside, I'm sure she's beautiful
