Now this one is a special one. The son of one of my team leaders in Afghanistan then later becoming a Staff Sergeant and retiring several years ago approached me with a rough idea. He wanted to buy his father a 45 as he had always wanted one. Couple things he requested. One a Colt and two it had to have a thin green line. Of course I had to accept as he and his father had spent the last 10 years together.

The pistol itself is a stock colt comp. I went through the gun top to bottom correcting the deflection, tension and hook shape on the extractor, marvel disco cut, set gap and throated the barrel, blended the frame and slide and underside of the GS the best I could, put a heavy chamfer on the bottom of the slide, medium chamfer on all other edges to soften it and flush cut and crowned the barrel. Finally I found the PERFECT grips. Just got it together and will be presenting it this Sunday. I am SO happy with the finished product.

The color scheme came last minute I really wanted it to have that military them so FDE frame, black pins and controls it had to be. Enjoy![IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Thanks for all the comments guys! I'm really looking forward to Sunday. Him and I haven't spent a whole lot of time together in years. It'll be nice to catch up for sure. I think some shooting therapy and a few fingers of bourbon will make for a wonderful afternoon!

Regarding the barrel throating, the getting rid of the
"trough" which Colt has used for years now:

Have you found that opening up the rear of the
barrel feed improves over Colt's design which I
    believe handles successfully many types
    of bullet configurations?

    UncleEd,

I will be perfectly honest with you in that I have NOT taken the nor had the opportunity to run a ton of all kinds of shapes and weights with Colts trough. It's basically an automatic thing in the shop if I'm going through the gun tuning.

I do have an M45 that's only seen 100 or 200gr SWC. I bought the gun just to have as I had always wanted that model. It ran those fine. Maybe if i get some time this summer I'll run everything i have to see if it'll hiccup. I bet most likely it won't but should be a fun test.
