Colt Competition - which competitions?

I am new to this forum and recently purchased a new Colt Competition. I was reading on another forum that the Colt Competition is targeted at complying with some specific rules and that is why the pistol does not have a checkered front strap. For satisfying my own personal curiosity, which competition rules would not allow a checkered front strap And which competition would the Colt Competition be fit?

A colt competition is one level above their bare bones model, that’s why no front strap checkering. There is nothing special about that gun, it’s pure marketing fluff about tailored for competition, but has some ok features.

If you want a solid colt, get their custom competition model. Made with all the features you need and want, built in the custom shop, has a test target and is tightly fit.

This will be a nice place. I like the clarity about my question and that is great. Thanks to those people posting.

Then I love a person telling me I should by a handgun at a price more than twice what I paid.

I have one in 9 MM that's pretty good for a Colt,it's tight and capable. Excellent value and skateboard tape is cheap. I put a Stan Chen SI Magwell on mine..nice. The adjustable Novak rear sight dials in nicely as well.

I bought a colt comp slide to learn on. One day it will have a colt frame to mate with. Until then, you will find that there are so many little a large addons and modifications that your head will spin for about a year and a half. By then you will have a pretty good grasp on the ins and outs of the 1911 and everyone's personalities.

I will say the CCS model is outstanding. I did one a little differently. It is in the safe and I have posted pics of it I think but here is the description on the invoice. The Chen parts are nice.
