Does anyone have any experience with the Colt Costom Shop? Quality of their work? Their prices are reasonable.

I heard Wilson has such a backlog of orders they aernt doing anything on non-Wilson guns atm but have not verified it.

    Essentially I want the following:
Cut dovetail for sight. 10-8 sights with gold bead
    Chen magwell
Ed Brown beavertail and thumb safety
Install 9mm barrel and thick bushing flush cut and recrown
Instal thick bushing on the .38 super and flush cut recrown
Tasteful dehorn. More than SACS carry bevel
    Front strap and mainspring checkering.
    French Borders
Refinish- Trying to decide between NP3, Ionbond, or hardchrome

You might post something on the 1911 enthusiast forum. Plexi (Scott) and Feral (Bill) are big Colt custom people.. Ron

Colt's does good work but it'll take a while. I sent my Combat Elite in to have the front strap checkered and I'm very happy with it.

Does anyone know if they will do the Heinie or Chen magwell. It looks like they will do everything else I want.

Brent will pretty much add any part you want. I sent in my CE and they had it for almost five months. The work was affordable, but you know what that means. I felt the work was marginal. The front strap serrations were uneven, they loosed my slide to frame fit, The trigger was good, The brass bead front sight was off center. So my final thought is that if you’re gonna have to wait anyway for work spend a couple extra dollars and send it to an actual custom gunsmith.
