Colt Gold Cup Trophy Internals

I posted this question on another forum but received no replies, so trying here.

I bought a new Gold Cup Trophy .45. It's quite accurate but the trigger pull is heavier than I'd like, and I plan to slick it up a bit if it doesn't improve with a bit more shooting. I know I'll answer my own question once I detail strip it, but I'm curious to know if I should expect to find a sear depressor spring setup in there like on a Gold Cup National Match. Anyone here have first-hand knowledge? Thanks.

No first hand experience here but I understand that the original Gold Cups, at least 70 series, had a unique set up. Good luck.

Same here.. I fell in love with it sitting there in the case when i was there buying ammo.. It was kinda pricey for me..so walked away.. but couldn't stop thinking about it.. After about a week.. i said to myself.. if it's still there, it's meant to be..lol. So beautiful, and shoots nice.

As far as I know Colt ditched the extra parts when they went with the lighter 3 hole aluminum trigger, they were only used / needed with the old heavy trigger.

Also if you’re old ‘70 series Gold Cup goes back to Colt for work the old Kidney bean trigger and sear with the added spring will be replaced with the newer aluminum three hole trigger setup as Colt has no more of the old style sears,

My 2022 Gold Cup .38 super had no special parts. The trigger itself is fatter and subsequently the trigger track is wider to accommodate it. The FPS is shortened to support the BoMar style adjustable rear sight. Even though my gun is a series 70, the extractor was a series 80 style with the cutout for the plunger.
