I have a chance on getting either new in box at a couple hundred off msrp. Any opinions on which you would choose and why would be much appreciated.

If both are 3” pick the one you like best. Both are good guns.

Does the Smith have the lock? If so, get the Colt.

I haven't shot the Colt. What I've read has been very positive and I've had my eye on one. If I didn't have a couple pre-lock S&W 3" .357s in stainless I'd be all over the Colt. It seems like the price is right on them as well. Both are gonna get the job done.

I am when of those who hate what the internal lock represents so I’d get the Colt based on that.

Performance Center shouldn't have the lock , if I'm remembering correctly . Both great guns , can't go wrong . I'm partial to S&W .

    I love 3" revolvers.
Smith 66 prelock, Smith 19 ported with the lock but blocked, Kimber K6S, Czechmate Para 9mm, and a Korth (actually 2.75" but for some reason they call it a 3").
The Colt has been on my radar for a while so soon I hope.
It's all a matter of the stars aligning.

While i have a weakness for colts, I'll pick the S&W 686 Performance Center...i guess that's why i owe two of em.
