Due to a number of life situations I am strongly considering consolidating my collection and calibers. I just do not have the time to reload or shoot as much as I used to or like to. In addition, the spouse is still amicable to my hobbies but we have goals of going overseas for work and starting a family. Because of these things I am considering going to 9mm as my caliber and getting rid of a lot of superfluous toys. I will be left with a nice, customized 9mm/ .38 super Colt, a DW Guardian, and a SA EMP. I will still have a Glock 19 and my SA MC OP in .45 as well.

That means I will be selling the rest of my .45s, including my GC No Name and SA Compact, in addition to all the long guns and guitar stuff I have for sale at the moment. The problem is I really like those things, but the logical side says use that money elsewhere (like to finish off the student loans).

My main question is this: To those of you who have found yourself in these situations, did you regret consolidating your collection to a few nice things and being purposeful in your training and reloading or do you wish you would have kept your other stuff in the long run?

Is the GC No Name worth double the cost of a MC Operator?
Not if you need to liquidate and raise some cash for some reason.

The MC Operator I'm buying from Fedor will look somewhat like your's in the future.
I plan on trying a Harrison short trigger in it though.

That is what I am in process of doing now. No regrets, I figure if it just sits in the safe, may as well get in the hands of someone who will use/enjoy it.

I've thinned my collection down over the years and continue to do so since I have a problem buying stuff I don't need. I have only regretted selling one pistol in all my years. To me, it's far more important to use what I have, frequently, even if it is only 3 pistols, than to own 50 pistols and barely use them. YMMV.

I vote you get it gold plated and engraved and put you "street" name on the side of it.

    Hot Lips?!?!

I like the green as well.

And with regards to thinning the collection. If I were in a tight spot myself I'd definitely look to keep those things that have saved my bacon and am willing to put forth to do again. I've had to sell a few firearms in the past but don't regret it because I've eventually been able to move on to better guns.

I have many firearms I still wish I own mainly a real HK91 and a AR180 back in the 80's , but things happen and you have to take care of things like family and your home. I have always kept at least 1 longarm (an AR) and 1 pistol ( Glock) . Things are better but i still not trying to keep things to a minimum as I could easliy find myself building more AR's and the idea of building a 1911 keeps creeping into my head (maybe thats why I am buying more parts from kokopelli , he put a spell on me, lol) Gun collections come and go but as long as you have a basic set up you feel comfortable with then I think you will be fine.

I feel comfortable with my collection without those other .45s. I will have a very nice 9mm/.38 Super that is the epitome of what I think a 1911 should be. I also have 2 guns that make great CCW weapons. Ill have 1 .45 just in case and I will always have a G19 in my collection. I think I am going to do this.
