This is my custom build by a local smith-Andy Anderson, retired Green Beret Sgt. Major, Andy's Custom Guns, in Golden, CO. He built it in March of 2004, a friend of mine bought it new from Andy. My buddy passed away unexpectedly in 2012, his wife gifted this pistol to me. Evidently my friend had said something to her about how much I enjoyed shooting it when he first let me try it out shortly after he got it.

Caspian slide/frame, Kart barrel/bushing, mostly Ed Brown internals/safeties with a Koenig hammer. I shoot this pistol better than any other 1911 I've ever owned/shot.

Not sure what happened to the pic, see last post for another try

Nice looking.. very nice and very thoughtful that his wife gifted the pistol to you upon your friend’s passing. A forever keepsake of your friendship.. enjoy it .

Thank you all. Sandy was more like a brother than a friend. He had an ffl for a number of years and my younger son would help him out running background checks when he'd set-up at area shows.

He had tragically lost his son a few years prior and saw many similarities in our sons-same interests, personalities and even looks to a point. My sons knows he'll end up with Uncle Sandy's 1911 and enjoys shooting it whenever we go to the range.

Bringing back this older thread as for some reason the picture isn't showing. Also this gun does see lots of class/range time and carry during the cooler/colder months. My TRS, once it comes back with the new front sight from Baer and I figure the carry ammo it likes, will take it's place for carry but have no fear this custom will still see plenty of range time.

Let's see if this picture shows up:
Hmm, still getting just the picture icon with a red x.

Let's try a different one:
