I don't know what type of firearm the customer used but this is a perfect example of why we should carry "enough gun" i.e. a bigger, easier to shoot gun. Facing multiple bad guys with a pocket pistol makes a bad situation even worse.
We must train.....even though I am pretty experienced handling firearms of varied types....firing one under stressful encounters are another thing altogether and becomes even more critical when the other guy(s) is/are armed. I would venture to say that none of the CWP issuing programs for the various states are enough exposure. And yeah, this guy may have some military exposure to firearms or something like that, but training and then re-immersion periodically is the key to safely deploying a firearm. Most street punks have not been to FrontSight or Way of The Gun. But we can go. And outgun them when we need to. But deploying even a pocket 9mm can be decisive.

For those of you who are going to spend time figuring out what gun you need to bring to a gun fight I would like to offer that for this individual to engage two three armed adversaries required a certain mind set that you can't buy in a gun store.
That mind set and training is above and beyond the particular gun. If you can't be effective with your carry gun, a J Frame, another pocket pistol or whatever, you are carrying the wrong gun and should think about that as well cause your carrying a broken crutch, kidding yourself and endangering others.

So are you assuming he had a .25 pocket pistol? He could have been carrying a full size 15+ pistola and simply hit the guy in the pinky toe. :) Not very many details in the article.

Facing off with multiple armed bad guys would be stressful to say the least

No I'm not assuming he had a pocket pistol, just stating that having a bigger gun that is easier to shoot under stress would be better if you find yourself in a situation like this.

I used to drop a J Frame in my pocket when I was just running out to town on a few errands. It was easy to carry but not so easy to shoot well under stress, only holds 5 rounds and is difficult to reload quickly. I no longer do that because the Dominos Pizza that I frequent in my sleepy small town was held up last year by 3 bad guys, 2 with pistols and 1 with a shotgun. Thankfully after putting the employees and a customer down on their faces they only robbed them and left. I would not want to face 3 bad guys with a 5 shot revolver.

Glad to see a good guy showed and was able to defend himself and others.

I bet the below discussion comes up at work at least once a week.

1911 (8+1 45acp), two spare 8 rd mags or Glock 19/45 (15+1 or 17+1 9mm), one spare mag.

And the arguement has never been won by either side.

But when else would you eat a prepackaged egg salad sandwich and fritos?

Just remember, according to democraps and liberals no good guy with a gun ever stopped a crime.
I no longer care what some Democrat a$$hole thinks or feels. I wish for them to drown in their own hypocrisy like the pig $hit they spew daily. That they want to try and sell this country out to the highest bidder and have this great nation become a suffering morass of debt, taxes, virtual enslavement through Eurotrash socialism and the very death of dreams I grew up with is the saddest tale I have to tell. An elected Republican president is only a stopgap to a slide into the darkest existence of a police state economy. Guaranteed "green jobs" and Medicare for All? I can't wait to line up for that crap. We will be turning our firearms in a hell of lot sooner than you think.
