Manager at the LGS was saying he knows people in the know... Claims DW is developing a true 1911 double stack.

- who would be interested in a 2011 by DW? I imagine it would be in the $2000 to $2500 range, based off current models and pricing.

- how legitimate do you think this guy is? I'm feeling like its BS but I've been surprised before.

- any other thoughts

Not sure why DW would want to re-enter this crowded double stack 1911 space with the exception of being able to have a competition ready model added to their lineup. They do need to update the DWX, so hopefully that is what they are working on. If you think about it, DW used non-2011 mags with their DWX, now Stacatto HD (Glock mags) and Sig P211 (P320 mags) also went that direction. Bul has their own proprietary mags, Wilson does…. As far as pricing, if you see where they are pricing their current line up, any new 2011 style would be North of $3500+. And then everyone would want it in 38 super for $1500.😓

I heard something to this effect a month or two ago and dismissed it. Maybe I'm wrong though? If they do produce one, I would have to imagine it would be a two-pronged marketing push. Trying to get younger buyers interested in DW products, while at the same time designing it to appeal to older shooters who might prefer more classic lines (kind of like ACW's design cues on the Quantico Hi Cap). It will be a tough tightrope to trod.

as much as I like my DWX compact, I’d love for Dan Wesson to make a gun that takes 2011 pattern mags. I have way more 2011 mags than I do CZ 75 compact mags and I have more guns that take 2011 mags than what take CZ 75 compact mags.
