    I love these blued Valors.

Or maybe I should pickup that Texas edition Valor Commander... Just for grins.

I have one each in 9 & 45, beautiful bluing and great DW function & dependability.

Dan Wesson doesn't actually make blued Valors anymore so these must have been in stock from 2017 or earlier.

I wish they’d go back to making them. Stainless is fine, but it’s not right for everything. Sometimes a high-carbon steel is all you need. Would suit me just fine if they went back to that.

I talked to them a few months back about building me a "semi-semi" custom on a Valor frame and slide and they just couldn't/wouldn't do it. I think they were outsourcing the finish on those blued frames/slides and there were some issues. I had one earlier this year.

Was it you or was it someone else who mentioned this in another thread a few weeks back? So you can't order a custom Valor/Valor Commander from DW anymore?

It wasn't me, but I had an ongoing discussion with DW about building a blued full sized Valor in 9mm a few months ago and they just didn't have the blued frames/slides to do it and weren't sourcing anymore.

I think maybe it was azguy1911 that said he couldn't get a Valor custom, either. I can understand if they can't fulfill a request for a discontinued item. That makes sense.

I was thinking you meant they wouldn't do a custom period. My mistake.

I think you are right about the outsourcing and issues. I did pick up a 2017 Blued 9mm Valor earlier this year and there were a couple of spots that weren't blued properly on the slide. I didn't bother with sending it back to DW because I was having some work done on it by Bunker Arms and Brandan took care of it with a reblue. He said the faults were likely where some of the detergent used to prep the slide before bluing was not completely removed and it left a couple of small areas that were not totally blued to the same depth. The frame was fine so they must have been prepped and blued separately from the slides.

As far as the Valor "semi-custom", they can only build with the parts that they have with respect to frames and slides. I had them build me a two tone Valor in 9mm with adjustable sights and I wanted a Blued slide with a Stainless frame. Keith told me he didn't have any more 9mm carbon slides that could be blued but he could do one for me in .45 using a carbon slide. Since I was set on a 9mm, I opted for the Duty Finish slide and Stainless frame and the pistol turned out great.

The second part is true, they can only use what they have on hand. I really want a 9mm DT Valor with a Heritage slide as ball cuts are just nasty looking. They don't have that slide, only option is a specialist slide, which of course, has nasty ball cuts.

I didn't think the standard 9mm Valor came with Ball Cuts...….Keith had to add them to my slide when my Two-Tone was built as I happen to like them. Glad we all have so many choices.

This explains why I haven't been able to find a blued DW.

I believe you can get a bead blasted blue finish on a DW, like an A2, but not polished flats, like on a Valor.

I've also had a couple conversations with Endre and Keith discussing a custom build and Keith told me via email that he does not have any Valor frames (stainless) to use in a custom build.

Sorry for the late response, was preoccupied with all the Black Friday sales.
Always wanted a DW Valor, but prefer carbon over stainless. Initially, I thought I missed the boat on these discontinued blued Valors. I too had correspondence with Keith about ordering a custom Valor in blue, or two tone with a blued slide. He said that he was all out of carbon Valor parts, so he could not accommodate my request. He said that he could do a two tone in stainless, and treat the slide. I forgot that I had put in a "Back In Stock" notification with GrabAGun. Out of the "BLUE" I got the notification. Happy ending for me, and I thought that I'd pass on the info for those in the same situation. First Dan Wesson(s) for me, we will see.

    Very nice.
Did you have any issues with the blueing?
