Spent about five hours this morning hunting bighorn sheep with my camera dodging raindrops, the idiot wind and the nagging sense that it was a poor day for bighorn. Didn't see a one.

The refuge is 1.6 million acres, Las Vegas on the south, Nellis Bombing range on north and west. 1.6 million acres is two Rhode Islands and several 1,000 football fields. It's a good place. You can go up there and not see another human for several days. No cell service.

I figure not a small number of sheep could be concealed in 1.6 million acres. Nice desert shot.

Sorry no sheep for you scaramouche but thanks for the great picture. The contrast between the sky, clouds, mountains and foreground are beautiful. Good to hear from you. Thanks again.

Yeah, there are some, but they never stopped me from pursuing higher callings. They just get in the way and are a god awful nuisance, cause horse wrecks, put people off their chow, raise heck in the hen house and don't mix well with young children.

Stunning image. I spent a lot of time flying in the Nellis ranges back in the day and always found it to be quite beautiful out there in the winter.

10 years ago, I lived just north and west of there. Off US 95 west of Scotty's Junction. Splendid country, unfortunately, I lived 6 miles behind the Kalifornistan curtain, and subject to "those" misguided rules and regulations. Drove by the refuge every two weeks on the bi-monthly provisions and mayhem run to Vegas...

Been awhile since I walked in the desert, KOFA NWR was one of my favorites.
