I am thinking of buying a new 586 and doing some upgrades, but want to see what works!

I think B_RAD had a very nice (8 3/8") M586 for sale sometime back? Probably long gone, but she was a real beauty! I like your thinking, OP! Good luck, and share pic's when you locate a nice specimen.

I have an L-Comp. stock, but nonetheless still a pretty neat gun. 3-inch, 7-shot, ported, moon clips, ..

Spotted a 6" 586 no dash that hasn't been sent back to S&W for modification. This would be perfect for my purposes, $695.

Here's my 586-3:

It has the .500" Target Hammer and .400" Target Trigger and grips from the S&W website. I sent it to the PC for the Master Revolver package and new style cylinder release thumbpiece.
