Dan Wesson Does anyone own a Dan Wesson Patriot? If so what are your thoughts?

I recently come across a Dan Wesson Patriot for sale, it appears as if the pistol is still up for grabs and that I may be able to get it for a reasonable price. It shocked me to find out that it was a series 70 pistol with an external extractor, maybe the reason it was discontinued as I know many who do not care for the external extractors. I have owned a few, with no actual problems, but do consider them somewhat of an eyesore. It seems from what I read that the internals and other controls were high quality parts from Ed Brown, Nowlin, And McCormick... So, while I got some information, someones first hand experience with this particular handgun would be much appreciated.

@WHEELS Here is the one I am looking at. Guy says he bought the gun new and has fired about 50 rounds through it. Says it has a phenomenal trigger. It is actually a Patriot Expert. Not sure if that makes it any different than a reg patriot or if that is just what they were called. Predecessor of the Pm Guns I believe. Other than the external extractor supposed to be all quality internals. and of course a match grade barrel I believe. Patriot.jpg

Supposed to be like new, and so far anything I read on it, is positive.

I'd like it just for the fact that it's an older Dan Wesson. I recently saw a DW Panther up for sale and it was the first time seeing one as well.

Not a huge fan of external extractors or FCS but if the price is right and you like it go for it.

    Hey Steve
I had a Patriot Marksman and it was an excellent gun, at the time I had a PM9 & VBOB, all three pistols had the same great fit and finish, notice the test target as these were touted to have a 1” accuracy at 25yds.
The only difference between the Marksman and Expert are the sights, with the expert having an adjustable rear sight vs the Marksmans fixed rear.

Patriot was too nice to pass up... And as tight as every other DW I own. Pretty sweet piece. 0408181857_HDR.jpg 0408181858a.jpg 0408181858b.jpg 0408181858g.jpg 0408181859 (1).jpg 0408181859_HDR.jpg 0408181900.jpg

Very nice, and yeah this gun is extremely tight and great lock up. said less than 50 rounds out of it, was original owner. Been banged around a little but hey for 15 or more years old still in good shape. I couldn't pass it up, external extractor or not, I am too big a fan..

Very nice. I'm not a huge fan of external extractors but I don't mind it in this piece. Im not throwing stones as I do have a Sig. Very nice pick up.
