Nothing wrong w/an external extractor except it looks different than John's 1911 but if you like hi-powers it's nothing new, even Mr Browning was good with them. Seems maybe Bill opened the door of acceptance w/the X9, got people admitting to themselves that it's o.k. to like a 1911ish gun as long as the gene pool's blue blood.

For me, when it starts getting too far from the original, it opens the door to comparison to a lot of other platforms and sort of gets watered down. Which is fine but it may not win out at the end of the day. I like 1911's for being 1911's, I like other guns just because. When a 1911 starts being something different then it's more of a 'meh' and needs to stand on it's own merits.

This ones definitely a purty gun and probably runs well too. IMO needs a few more rounds in the mag for an updated EDC platform.

Imo this guy has made some major improvements in several of the areas of manufacturing for the Ed Brown line of products.. In just the last year I've seen a huge improvement in the quality and craftsmanship of the parts.. Since they done away with their casted parts and went with tool steel everything there is much more attention to detail. Everytime I have used their one piece magwell it has had to be fitted which makes for a much more seamless fit and blend to the bottom of the magchute as well. Congrats, I'd say you get a few of these and they won't last any longer than this one did lol ;) .....

I just got mine in stainless from Tyler at Cajun Concealed. Taking it out to test run today. I was surprised with the unarmed barrel, but I am sure EB tested the snot out of these before releasing them. Can't wait.

[EDIT] I meant to say "unramped" barrel - not unarmed... LOL.
