I gripe and moan about the short list of gun oil & stuff that I'll use on my Duty Treated DW guns. It's a pain in the arse...and thus far I'm only carrying them in holsters that haven't been "contaminated" by guns that I've used Breakfree CLP goodness or other stuff.

That being said.....days like today make me bitch a little less about the short-list care & handling of DT guns. We had some light rains at daybreak with 24hrs of storms predicted.

Walked the dogs this am in the rain and then caught in a freaking monsoon later on while making a grocery store & gas run.

DT wipes down easy after sweat, humidity, rain and exposure to COVID19 :dr:

Wished they hit their hammers with DT, too.

N95 masks sent by Mom in a pre-corona care package. Gloves from Harbor Freight. Bullets from Speer. Holster from Andrews.

Is that Wesson a bull barrel.

What's the info on that pistol.
It was a mistaken listing. Ordered the gun from Bud's thinking it was a Valor Commander DT.....one of the final DT .45 Valors I could find last year after finding out the Valor was no in production (has returned since in refreshed version for 5" & V-Bob.....but still no Commander).

I walked into my FFL to pick it up and he said, "Hey...wait until you see the grips....you are going to love them". That comment puzzled me....should've simply had the normal G10 grips....nothing to comment over.

He brought out the gun and it became immediately evident that they'd shipped a completely different gun than I'd ordered. Turns out it was actually a Valor Commander Limited. I'd wanted the standard model (with bushing config). Called Bud's and spoke with one of the managers. He confirmed that "Yes, the screw up was on our end......we can't get the model you wanted....they are GONE....what can we do to make it right?".

As I had the manager on the phone I was still giving the gun more scrutiny. Truth is, I really liked the feel of it. The finish was flawless. The gun cycled smoothly....as in "ball bearing" smooth (after a field strip and some Weapon Shield worked into the moving parts it glides in a way that makes me grin every time I rack the slide).

I kept the gun.

It's been almost a year later and I can say that I'm very glad I did. It's a trusted carry weapon and is a peach to shoot. It has been 100% reliable with every round I've fed through it. Perfect feed, fire & eject: 230gr American Eagle ball, 230gr WWB, 200g lswc and 200gr Speer Gold Dot +P carry loads.

Tried to get you some better pics this morning showing the weight.

In the 1st pic is another Valor Commander, but it's a 9mm....so....it's an apples & oranges weight comparison.

Compounding the empirical is my subjective opinion.....this "bull" model simply feels heavier in hand than the bushing model...even though the scale says they are mighty close. It just has more heft. Maybe it's a function of the thicker wood grips...I don't know. I really like the feel of the gun. The thicker grips along with the long trigger pretty much nailed it for fitting me.

Forgive the copious amounts of Weapon Shield splooged on the barrel. I should be ashamed.....didn't break her down after the last range session, simply wiped down exterior and hit with more WS oil. It ain't purty.....but it's how I roll. :)

Since I was dicking around with the scale this morning.....I put the newest puppy to join the pack on there. Valkyrie .45 (cco config). Sucker is light. I need to get it to the range to see how it shoots.

DISCLAIMER: I was in between cups of coffee this morning and didn't have the benefit of my cheater glasses when piddling with the scale.

Now....looking back at the pics....I just don't buy the weights. The DT commander has bull barrel and guide rod....and feels much heftier than the the SS bushing model.

I'll grab my glasses and confirm....and make sure I zero correctly.
